Kudos to Starbucks India for recognising our planet’s need of the hour and changing customer preferences by introducing a dedicated plant-based food menu. This adds up to their existing lineup of coffee options that replaces dairy products with plant-based alternatives such as almond milk and soy milk.

The new plant-based options include:

i) Sausage Croissant Roll with spiced tomato sauce

ii) Vegan Croissant Bun with tomatoes, sautéed vegetables, and chermoula

iii) Vegan Hummus Kebab Wrap with green pea hummus and pickled carrots

Earlier, Starbucks India did introduce some vegan and gluten-free options to the menu in collaboration with the renowned Indian chef Sanjeev Kapoor, but it still lacked what health enthusiasts were looking for.

A plethora of people are consciously going plant-based for ethical and health related reasons and this is a win-win decision for all concerned. Sometimes, it is not easy to switch to plant-based foods, especially when eating out in Indian cafes because of limited or non-existent options. However, all that seems to be changing as more and more people pay attention to environmental and health benefits of going plant-based. Furthermore, plant-based dishes prepared in innovative ways taste good and provide variety all while benefitting your health and saving the planet.

Reduced carbon emissions, reduced water use and lesser pollution are just some of the advantages when you decide to support the greater good by switching to a plant-based lifestyle. On an individual level, it helps reduce the levels of bad cholesterol, blood pressure in addition to improving your immunity, energy levels and cardiovascular health.
